Elinchrom has just announced ONE, a tiny, but powerful strobe. The 131 Ws off-camera flash is the company’s first battery-powered moonlight, and it’s the size of a 70-200 mm lens.

Thanks to its small size, the Elinchrom ONE is super-portable. It’s similar in size, weight (1.5kg / 3.3 lbs) and even shape to a 70-200mm lens. It packs an internal Li-ion battery, and you can charge it from any USB-C source without proprietary spare batteries or chargers. You can get up to 725 full-power flashes on a single charge. In addition, you can take advantage of Active Charging and shoot while your light is attached to the power source regardless of the battery’s power level. With improved weather protection, you can use it on location and it will stay protected from the elements.

The Elinchrom ONE utilizes its 131 Ws of capacity to generate a light output usually seen in 200+ Ws units. At 1 meter (3.3ft) and 100 ISO, the ONE can achieve f/11.9, with the diffusion dome attached, and when combined with the HP Reflector, it goes up to f/45.2.

Here are the key features of the Elinchrom ONE:

  • 5kg (3.3 lbs) weight and similar in size to a 70-200mm lens
  • Integrated Li-Ion battery with up to 725 full-power flashes on a single charge
  • Enhanced protection from the elements
  • USB-C charge port
  • Active Charging
  • Elinchrom OCF modifier mount: natively compatible with Profoto OCF and the traditional Elinchrom Bayonet mount via an included adapter
  • Touch screen interface
  • Powerful bicolor LED modeling lamp: adjustable color temperature of 2700 to 6500 with an output of 3000 Lumens and a CRI 95
  • Recycling time 0.9 seconds at full power; +/- 150K color temperature over the entire power range.
  • Sync up to 1/8000s with HSS
  • TTL with Manual Lock
  • Smart Pro-Active cooling: learns your shooting style and adapts its cooling cycle around it
  • Removable tilt-head

The Elinchrom ONE retails at $899,99 as a single flash kit, including the light, OCF adapter, OCF diffusion dome, wall charger, USB-C cable, and a case. There is also a dual kit available that doubles all of this up and retails at $1,799,99.

Come on, Elinchrom, 900 bucks for a 130 Ws light with a built in battery that is not changeable? You’re nuts!

Why would you not just pick up an AD200? it’s smaller and more powerful than this.
