We asked our friends to shoot “moon selfies” and this is what they sent us

A few weeks ago, the folks in North and South America, Europe and western Africa were able to see the blood moon lunar eclipse. While the social networks were swarmed with photos, not all of us were able to see the eclipse. You know, clouds and all. So, we decided to make our own moon photos. We asked our friends to take “moon selfies,” and it turned out to be not just amusing, but utterly hilarious!

Someone, somewhere figured out that, when you take a selfie through a toilet paper roll, you look like the moon. So, my four best friends and I gave it a shot and shared the results in a Facebook chat. We laughed hysterically after seeing each other’s photos. We may be 30-ish, but silly things like this are always amusing and they wake up your inner teenager. Here are some of the first shots we shared:

Andrea

Bojan

Dunja

Bojan added that, if you are ambitious enough, you can also be the sun. So, he sent us this photo:

Then, as he usually does, he went an extra mile in being silly. He made these horribly photoshopped photos of us, and these nearly made my coffee end up on the laptop monitor:

Five of us were having fun with this for the entire day. And we had so much fun and laughed so hard, that all of us were in a great mood that day. A few days later, I was the one to go an extra mile in being an overgrown teenager. I brought an empty toilet paper roll to a night out.

Remember that lunar eclipse? Well, if you can’t shoot the actual eclipse, you can make your own. Kinda. Our favorite pub has a red light in the restroom, so we took selfies with the toilet paper roll there. Ta-da, blood moon!

Once again, Bojan made a terribly photoshopped image of himself, and weeks later, it still makes me laugh:

Silly as it may be, this is a great way to have a bit of fun with friends. It will make all of you laugh and improve your mood, I promise you that. It can also be a fun thing to do with kids to entertain them with photography on boring or rainy days. Or you can take toilet roll moon selfies if you just need a new way to procrastinate, I won’t judge.

Of course, I believe that I find these photos this funny partially because they feature people I know. But I find the whole trend really amusing, and I’d like to see your results. So, let’s see your toilet roll moon photos!
