After some rumours and speculations, the new Presidential photographer has finally been announced. Obama’s photographer Pete Souza left the White House, and the one to replace him and work with Donald Trump is Shealah Craighead. She is a photojournalist who already has the history of photographing politicians, and even working in the White House for George W. Bush.
Shealah was chosen for the job that will require her to document the work, travel and life of President Trump every day. The (demanding) task seems to already have started, as she was with Donald Trump on his first flight on Air Force One to Philadelphia this Thursday. She also followed Trump on recent travels and was taking photos, but she wasn’t officially named as his photographer until now.
As for Shealah’s background, she worked for many politicians: George W. Bush and the office of former Vice President Dick Cheney. She was a personal photographer for former first lady Laura Bush and Gov. Sarah Palin’s vice presidential campaign. Shaelah was also working for Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison during her 2010 campaign for governor. Aside from this, she has also worked for the Boston Globe, The Associated Press and Getty Images.
As you can see, Shealah has plenty of experience with photographing politicians. So, I suppose she has good references for taking the position of Donald Trump’s photographer. If you would like to see her work, you can visit her website, Instagram or her Facebook page. But completely regardless of the politics, and speaking strictly as a photographer, I like Pete Souza’s style better. How about you?

P.S. Maybe she will update the presidential portrait…
