Fujifilm has just announced its latest GF lens, the Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR. It’s made for medium-format GFX system. The lens offers 5-stop optical image stabilization. It’s designed particularly with nature and landscape photographers in mind, but I believe portrait photographers could find it useful as well. Let’s dive into specs and see what you can expect from the latest Fujifilm’s telephoto zoom.

The lens consists of 20 elements in 13 groups. This includes two Super ED lens elements and one aspherical lens element, which help to minimize chromatic aberration and field curvature. The 5-stop optical image stabilization promises high stabilization capability even when the camera is handheld.

The Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR is an AF lens, and the manufacturer promises fast, quiet, but above all precise autofocus. The lens also includes a mechanical system for fixing the linear motor position when you turn the power off or playback captured images.

Considering that the lens was designed particularly with outdoor photographers in mind, it’s able to withstand harsh conditions. It’s weather-sealed at ten places on the barrel, it’s dust and weather resistant and operates in temperatures down to -10°C.

Finally, the lens can be combined with the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter that extends its focal length by 1.4 times. This way, it lets you cover the focal length range of 140mm-280mm (equivalent to 111-221mm in the 35mm film format).
