Instagram could finally let you fast-forward videos

It’s not uncommon for Instagram to test and implement all sorts of new features. But it seems that the latest change will be what many of us have been waiting for: fast-forwarding videos. According to app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Instagram could finally let you skip backwards and forwards through videos in your feed.

If you find it annoying that you have to watch a video all over again if you accidentally scroll down, this may soon be the thing of the past. You can see in Jane’s tweet what the feature will look like if it gets applied. According to Engadget, Instagram doesn’t seem to be testing the same feature for videos in Stories. But hey, one step at a time, I guess.

If you ask me, being able to rewind and fast-forward videos should exist in every video player in the world. But for whichever reason, Instagram hasn’t implemented it yet. Although, it’s available for videos on IGTV but not for those in the feed, at least not yet. There’s no word on when (and if) the long-awaited feature will come to life, but we’ll let you know when we know more.
