Product photos for Sigma’s new 85mm f/1.4 for E and L mount have leaked

We’re only two days from an official announcement now from Sigma about their new 85mm f/1.4 DC DN Art series lens for L and E mount. As expected, though, the images of the new lens have leaked a little early, courtesy of serial leakers, Nokishita.
Four photos of the new lens have leaked, and it looks a lot like Sigma’s 105mm f/1.4 Art for DSLRs, but shorter and with an aperture ring. There’s no sign of a tripod collar for this one, though.
The inclusion of an aperture ring is interesting, suggesting that Sigma is aiming the lens towards both photographers and filmmakers who prefer that feel of a real aperture ring or want the ability to adjust the aperture remotely via a motor, like on a gimbal or the top of a jib/crane. On one side of the lens, there’s actually a “Click” on/off switch. This may be for the aperture for switching to a smooth clickless aperture ring for video.
There’s also an unlabelled switch on the other side, although there’s no indication as to what it actually does. I’m not too familiar with Sigma’s new Art series lenses for mirrorless, so this switch might already appear on existing lenses. If you know what it is, shout it out in the comments.
An official announcement for the new lens is expected on Thursday, at 8am Eastern, 2pm CEST or 9pm JST.

It might be for the aperture ring, with or without clicks!
There’s actually a separate switch for that marked “Click” on/off. That’s why it’s confused me. :)
John Aldred oh I thought it was the “click” one, what switch are they asking about then?
The one on the opposite side?
Yup, the photo in the bottom image. The switch on the other side. The unmarked one. ;)
That is the adapter button when using it with an iPhone.
I wonder if that unlabelled switch is to release the hood. As it has no markings as to functionality and there is no need to have a ‘lock’ on this fixed focal length, which you would find on the 24-70 DG DN f2.8
Or… to lock the aperture ring.
There’s a separate switch labelled “Click” that is presumably for the aperture ring.
I saw that, but that’s only to control the ‘click’ on/off eg The Sound of the click. I think the other switch is to lock the aperture so it doesn’t move off chosen aperture.
Ahhh, could be!
Turbo button!!
maybe a locking switch…
Sigma coming for all the Sony lenses Rachel Curci
Nice design
Perhaps the switch is an aperture lock?
How much do you think this lens weighs? It looks heavy. I also noticed there is no room for a tripod collar even if you wanted to use one.
I use an Olympus OM-D 5 mkii and mostly shoot architecture. I use an F 2.8 lens which I very rarely ever open all the way. So I am not sure I would need a lens like this. Exspecially at whatever this lens will cost. Sometimes it makes these decisions much easier because Sigma makes very little the MFT system.
Probably about 625g :)
