Nintendo Switch game Pupperazzi is all about taking photos of dogs

If you’re a dog person who’s into photography and video games, Nintendo Switch has introduced a perfect game for you. It’s called Pupperazzi, and yes, it’s just as it sounds: it’s all about taking photos of dogs. It hardly gets better than that.

“Who will photograph, pet, and tell these dogs they’re good boys and girls if you don’t?” the game publishers wonder in the announcement. The game lets you photograph and catalogue all kinds of dogs to build your career, upgrade your camera, and discover new canines as the game progresses. Just like in real life, you need to juggle taking photos with maintaining your social media presence. Although this game is very cartoonish in design, this part is painfully real.

“It’s your choice which direction your career goes – just don’t forget to pet the dogs along the way,” the game description reads. Let me remind you that this is valid in real life too – whatever you do, always find time to stop and pet the dogs.

As PetaPixel notes, the game was originally released for Xbox One and PC in January 2022 and it received mixed reviews. I haven’t played it, but from the announcement trailer, I can conclude that it’s definitely not one of those super-realistic and photogenic games like Red Dead Redemption. It’s more like, say, Animal Crossing, but taking photos isn’t just one of the options – it’s the main focus of the game.

While I’m not much of a gamer, I’m happy to see that there have been more video games revolving around photography in recent years. Some of them make photography only a part of the experience (like Sims, which is the only game I play), and others make it its main purpose. Now you can just choose the one you like best, and I have to admit – the one having dogs is pretty high on my list. Puperazzi is coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2023, but you can already find it on Steam, Microsoft Store, or Epic Games for the Xbox One and PC.
