Guys, a new film camera is on the market! Lomography has announced the Lomo MC-A 35 mm Film Camera, which combines the spontaneity of automatic shooting with the tactile joy of full manual control. Whether you’re (re)discovering analog or never left it in the first place, this is the kind of camera that might just bring some fresh energy to your photography.

Features and Build

At its heart, the MC-A is about character. Don’t expect it to give you sterile precision or pixel-peeping perfection. It’s pure analog soul. Its 32 mm f/2.8 multi-coated glass lens retracts neatly into the compact metal body, giving it a tidy, travel-friendly profile. But despite its size, this is no toy. You get fast autofocus and zone focusing from as close as 0.4 m. You get to choose between auto, aperture priority, or full manual mode. Lomography’s calling it a “master of creativity,” and I sure am happy to hear about full manual controls. It sure does allow for more creative options.

The Lomo MC-A 35 packs a built-in flash that supports creative modes and gels. A PC sync socket opens the door to studio setups or off-camera fun. And yes, you get multiple exposures, bulb mode, exposure compensation, and even manual ISO settings.

One thing that feels delightfully old-school is the manual film advance lever. This might seem quirky to digital natives, but for the rest of us, it’s definitely a part of the charm. The body itself is black anodized metal. It looks clean, feels solid, and thankfully avoids the faux-retro gimmicks. The LCD offers just enough info without overwhelming the experience.
