Parody songs can be a bit hit and miss. Some are amazing (just look at the career of Weird Al) while others can be pretty awful. This one, though, from Dave Maze at Kinotika definitely describes a few people I’ve met.

It’s a take on Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” music video, called “Gear Guy”. It follows the tune pretty well, and even includes vocal processing to simulate similar effects to the original. It’s aimed at a specific demographic within the photo and video communities and, well, it’s pretty spot on.

If you don’t fall into the “all the gear and no idea” category and you’re not one of those people who constantly chase after the newest gear the instant it’s released believing that it’ll make you a better photographer or filmmaker, then you’ve nothing to really be upset about in this video.

If you are offended… Well, new year, new you? Maybe time to change.

For those who hadn’t heard the original song on which this parody is based, here you go.

Is he singing about you or somebody you know?
