Cine Gear Expo, which was supposed to take place this fall, was cancelled altogether. The reason is not surprising at all – like all events this year, it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Cine Gear Expo was originally scheduled for April this year. Since the pandemic was in full swing around that time, the show was rescheduled for October. The new dates were between 1 and 4 October 2020, but the organizers have now decided to cancel this year’s show completely.
In a statement regarding the cancellation, the Cine Gear team writes that “the climate of uncertainty persists.” Therefore, we can look forward to the 2021 show. In case you have already registered for this year’s event, you will be notified of the refund process in days to come.
As we all know, most spring and summer events and shows have been cancelled this year: NAB, CP+, Photokina, and most recently IBC. Some events turned to online form, such as Adobe’s MAX and 99U conferences. And some still remain rescheduled for fall, such as The Photography Show.
From what I know, some countries are seeing new cases after lifting the lockdown measures. Other ones predict the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic in fall. All in all, the situation is still uncertain and my guess is that this aura of uncertainty will stay with us for a while. Therefore, I am not too optimistic about the Photography Show in September. I personally expect that it will eventually be cancelled too, but I guess we can just wait and see.
