The Newland Instant Back Lets You Shoot Modern Polaroid Film on a Land Camera

If you own a Polaroid Land camera from the 100–400 series and have ever wished you could run modern Polaroid film through it, Clément Grosjean has been quietly building your answer in his kitchen. The Newland Camera Instant Back is a hand-assembled integral film holder that mounts to classic Land cameras and converts them into fully functional Polaroid shooters. Now, Vienna-based analog institution SUPERSENSE has stepped in to manufacture and distribute it globally, with a first production run of 200 units landing this summer.
The concept is simple and brilliant. Land cameras from the 100–400 series were built for peel-apart film. This format was discontinued, and more or less rescued from extinction by SUPERSENSE themselves, who relaunched the Type 100 film back in 2018 along with One Instant.
The Newland back skips a motorized transport mechanism entirely. You crank and pull each frame by hand after exposure. That might make some of you frown, but I personally love this approach. It slows you down and keeps you in the process in a way that feels right for a camera like this. Full analog experience!

Clément’s Kickstarter in 2022 was his proof of concept, and 250 units have shipped since then. The collaboration with SUPERSENSE means production moves from Clément’s kitchen table to a more controlled environment. SUPERSENSE notes that each unit is still built and assembled by hand with individual quality control.
The packaging is a nice touch, too. It was developed by the SUPERSENSE print atelier using all-analog methods, which fits the concept perfectly. This is the rare gear announcement where everything around the product feels considered and consistent, not just the product itself.

Pricing And Availability
The Newland Camera Instant Back is priced at €359 for this first SUPERSENSE production run. Of the 200 units available, approximately 100 are already reserved from Clément’s existing Newland community. You can place your preorders now are expected to ship before the end of October 2026. The company notes that they’ll announce the next production allocations as soon as the first production batch sells out.
