You can download an official Blackmagic BRAW plugin for Adobe Premiere starting today

If you’ve been shooting the popular BMPCC4K you know that that BRAW is a great codec. It is very light on the computer on one hand, and preserve a lot of information on the other hand. It was natively supported in DaVinci Resolve, but you had to to get a $25 third-party plugin to run it in Premiere.

Today Black Magic released an official FREE plugin that supports both Premiere and Avid. You can download the plugin here.

But there is more, this BRAW1.5 update also adds support to Linux and Mac and includes the Blackmagic RAW Speed Test application. Here is the excerpt from Black Magic:

All platforms

  • General improvements for Blackmagic RAW Player and Blackmagic RAW Speed Test.
  • General SDK improvements. Please refer to the separate SDK change log file for full details.

macOS

  • New plug-in for Blackmagic RAW editing in Avid Media Composer.
  • New plug-ins for Blackmagic RAW editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Added metadata support for Mac Finder “Get Info” inspector in the “More Info” panel.

Windows

  • New plug-in for Blackmagic RAW editing in Avid Media Composer.
  • New plug-ins for Blackmagic RAW editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Added Blackmagic RAW Speed Test application.

Linux

  • Added Blackmagic RAW Speed Test application.

Minimum system requirements for macOS

  • macOS Mojave 10.14 or later
  • AVX, AVX2, or SSE compatible chipset
  • Adobe CC 2019 or later for Adobe Premiere Pro plug-ins
  • Avid Media Composer 2018 for Avid Media Composer AMA plug-in

Minimum system requirements for Windows

  • Microsoft Windows 10 or later
  • AVX, AVX2, or SSE compatible chipset
  • Adobe CC 2019 or later for Adobe Premiere Pro plug-ins
  • Avid Media Composer 2018 for Avid Media Composer AMA plug-in

Minimum system requirements for Linux

  • CentOS 7.3 or later
  • Ubuntu 18.04
  • AVX, AVX2, or SSE compatible chipset
