This Telesin Grip Turns Your iPhone 17 Pro Into a Pro Camera Rig

When DIYP stopped by the Telesin stand at IBC 2025, we didn’t expect to walk away rethinking how we shoot on our phones. But that’s exactly what happened when John got his hands on Telesin’s brand-new lineup of grips and accessories for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

Sure, there are a lot of mobile film and camera grips and cages around. However, these are thoughtful tools designed to make mobile filmmaking and photography feel more like using a dedicated camera than ever before.

The Master Grip Kit: Turning an iPhone into a Camera Rig

The star of the show was definitely the Master Grip Kit, which John immediately noticed felt surprisingly natural in the hand. Crafted from lightweight aluminium, the grip has the kind of ergonomics that lets you shoot for hours without cramping. That’s something any street photographer or run-and-gun filmmaker will appreciate.

The grip connects to the iPhone via MagSafe and features tactile buttons for shutter release, zoom, and even switching camera modes. That means no more fumbling with on-screen controls when trying to capture a fleeting moment. And, even better, it doubles as a power bank with a 300 mAh battery, keeping your phone alive during long shoots.

The kit also comes with a versatile LED light that can flip around for selfies or face-forward shooting. Add in a filter system with protective glass, plus upcoming CPL and ND filters, and it’s clear that Telesin designed this kit for creators who want pro-level control without the bulk of a DSLR or mirrorless camera.

For anyone just starting out, John recommends beginning with a CPL filter to cut reflections and deepen skies. Paired with the grip’s shutter button, you could easily capture crisp, intentional shots instead of smudged, touchscreen-triggered frames.

  • Release Date: September 18, 2025
  • Price: €159 ($187) with light and filters, €119 ($140) without

Diving Deeper: The Universal Dive Case

For underwater shooters, Telesin unveiled a Universal Dive Case retailing at just €99 ($116). John once lost a GoPro to a leaky housing, so he was impressed by the case’s vacuum pump system that eliminates air pockets, preventing condensation and leaks up to 20 meters deep.

What sets this apart from other dive housings is the full camera control it offers. He could zoom, switch between photo and video, and trigger the shutter, all without ever touching the phone’s screen. And because it mounts to a tripod, there’s room to get creative with underwater rigs or even attach a top handle for stability.

The real bonus is that it works universally with both Android and iOS devices using the native camera apps, so there’s no clunky third-party software required. Telesin does offer an app with underwater colour correction (John found the one-tap polar correction handy), but it’s strictly optional.

The Fun Grip and External Flash: Compact Creativity

Not everyone needs the full Master Kit, and that’s where the Fun Grip comes in. It’s smaller and lighter than the Master grip, so it skips the built-in battery but keeps the essentials: Bluetooth remote, shutter, zoom, and tripod compatibility. It would be perfect for casual street sessions when you don’t want to carry too much gear.

But the real surprise was the external flash system. For about €30 ($35), this little light attaches to the phone or grip, and when paired with the camera app, it can trigger in sync with the iPhone’s shutter. Suddenly, off-camera flash photography is possible on a smartphone, which is a huge win for portrait shooters in particular. John tested it as a selfie light and then repositioned it for off-camera lighting, instantly transforming the mood of his shots.

  • Fun Grip Release Date: October 2025
  • Price: Around €30 ($35) (flash expected to be under €50 or $59)

A Step Toward True Mobile Filmmaking

John walked away from Telesin, clearly impressed with the products. He’s always been sceptical of “pro” phone accessories, but these grips and cases struck the right balance between ergonomics, versatility, and affordability.

For beginners, he suggests starting with the Fun Grip and external flash because it’s an affordable way to expand shooting options. For serious mobile filmmakers, the Master Grip Kit is worth every cent for the control and reliability it adds. And if underwater content is on the horizon, the Dive Case is a no-brainer.
