“Maximum power, maximum colour”. That’s what Prolycht is saying about its new flagship light. Launched just today, DIYP caught up Mitch Gross from Prolycht to find out more about the brilliant Orion 675 FS.
The Prolycht Orion 675 FS LED full spectrum spotlight is built inside a single unit. It’s designed specifically for Film and TV professionals, and is frankly, a bit of a game changer. This light is really powerful, and we witnessed it lighting up the vast IBC Show ceiling with ease.
Not only that, but the really interesting thing about this light is that it gives a full spectrum of RGB colours. This gives very natural and authentic colour tones. It has a wide range of colour temperatures from 1800K to 20,000K. The colours are extremely accurate anywhere between this range.
The light’s innards have been completely designed since the prototype launched 5 months ago. Feedback from DP’s and gaffers was valuable information and Prolycht used that to make the light even better.
The light has an incredibly large tilt range, and also features a quick release lever so that you can flip the whole light around for better balance if using heavy modifiers.
The light has a fresnel attachment which rotates on a range of 15 to 50 degrees. However, it’s very compact. “It doesn’t weigh a lot,” says Mitch, “it doesn’t take up a lot of space,” he adds. With some brands, the fresnel can be quite unwieldy.
The mount has also been redesigned to ensure that any accessories don’t get too heavy and put unnecessary strain on the light. It has a traditional Bowens mount. While Bowens is very common and versatile, it’s not always the most secure of mounts. Prolycht wanted to use a universally popular mount but redesigned it to include an additional extra-secure positive locking clamp. “With this, it’s super strong, precise, and you don’t have problems with wobble,” says Mitch.
Additionally, you can control the whole light via an app. Prolycht really has thought through everything that could make this light a top choice in the industry. There is no detail that hasn’t been looked at and redesigned if necessary.
The light will be shipping in just a few weeks. You can buy the light for $3495 without the fresnel. The fresnel attachment costs $580. It also comes with two reflectors.
