Nanlite has also today announced the new Nanlite PavoTube II 15C and 30C RGBWW LED tube lights. These replace the original PavoTube 15C and 30C and add to the PavoTube II 15X and 30X RGB LED tube lights announced way back in October of 2021. What’s the difference between X and C? Well, we’ll get into that a little further down below, but the two new PavoTube II lights offer some nice improvements over the originals.

The new PavoTube II 15C and 30C offer white balance adjustment from 2500-7500K with green/magenta adjustment as well as full RGB control, AC and DC power, onboard controls, smartphone app control and wired DMX. The new second-generation lights also offer improved internal diffusion to create a more seamless look on-camera and provide a smoother, cleaner light when lighting subjects from out-of-frame.

Nanlite has announced its newest Forza Mark II LED lights. The Forza 60 II, 60B II, 300 II, 300B II, 500 II and 500B II inherit the even field of light of their predecessors, but the bicolour versions have been tweaked to provide consistent power throughout the colour balance range with improved colour accuracy. They’ve also had their designs altered to help provide better internal structure and higher durability on set.

The second generation of Nanlite’s Forza series LEDs offers a white balance range from 2700-6500K for bicolour versions and a fixed white balance of 5600K for the daylight versions. The feature set is slightly different between the 60 II/60B II and the 300 II/300B II/500 II/500B II LEDs, with the latter offering more advanced features and specs not found in the more entry-level 60 II/60B II.

It’s December again, which means lots of us are sitting there wondering what to buy for ourselves or the photographer in our lives this holiday season. We’ve been saving up all year to get that something special, but we don’t want to deal with in-store queues – or maybe we’ve just slacked on our Christmas shopping this year. We want to stay at home where it’s nice and warm and see what we can find online that gets delivered straight to our door!

So, this means it’s time for the 2022 DIYP Holiday Gift Guides. We’re on Day 3, so it’s time to look at lights. The Nanlite T8-7X tube light is the perfect replacement for annoying fluorescents

Nanlite PavoTube T8-7X tube light review - Title

If you have been a photographer or videographer in the last 40 years or so, you probably hate fluorescents. Fluorescent tubes are such a crude way of lighting. They flicker, give our horrible (and unpredictable) color casts, and they can not be dimmed. Just horrible.

We previously reviewed the Nanlite Pavotube 30X as a replacement for some fluorescents, but what about those other fluorescent bulbs? Those thin, easy-to-break, really annoying, enlengthen tubes? The T8 type… For those, Nanlite came up with the Nanlite PavoTube T8-7X RGBWW LED Pixel Tube. And they are an interesting lighting solution indeed.

Nanlite has today announced new bi-colour versions of its popular FS-150 and FS-200 LED lights. The new FS-150B and FS-200B are essentially the same as their daylight versions, but with the addition of bi-colour capabilities, offering a range of 2700K to 6500K with a 96 CRI and 97 TLCI. There are a few differences, though. There’s an extra button for switching between modes, and there’s an extra lighting effect.

The new lights also feature both Constant Output mode, for when you don’t want to have to re-meter every time you adjust the colour, and Maximum Output mode, for when all that matters is how bright it will go. But it features quite a few similarities, like the quiet and efficient cooling system, the familiar Bowens mount and remote control from the Nanlink smartphone app over Bluetooth.

Nanlite’s Forza 60C is a six-colour RGBLAC LED light for maximum colour accuracy

RGBLAC seems to be the new trend these days when it comes to LED lights. Gone is the more usual straight RGB and even the slightly more fancy RGBWW, which mixes RGB with warm and cool white LEDs. RGBLAC combines red, green and blue with lime, amber and cyan to produce even more accurate colours. We saw it recently in the massive Prolycht Orion 675FS and now it’s come to lower powered 60 Watt LEDs, courtesy of Nanlite.

The Nanlite Forza 60C is an RGBLAC LED light with a super wide colour temperature range of 1800K all the way up to 20000K and CRI and TLCI scores of 96 and 95 respectively. Nanlite says the newly developed that it offers a “near daylight spectrum” of colour that simply isn’t possible with RGBWW LED lights.

Nanlite has announced the new Forza 720 daylight and Forza 720B bicolour LED lights. The former is the most powerful light in the Nanlite arsenal while the latter, they say, is the most powerful bicolour LED light in the world from any company. Both lights are the same in appearance and are rated at 800W, but there are some very slight spec differences between the two – apart from the obvious feature of one of them being bicolour.

Shared features, however, include a standard Bowens mount, making them compatible with Nanlite’s range of modifiers as well as the countless third-party Bowens mount modifiers available today. The yoke mount also features a built-in umbrella holder for even more modifier options. They both offer from 0-100% power in 0.1 increments and they’re both super quiet at only 20dB fan noise.

Nanlite has released their new PavoBulb 10C. It’s an RGBWW colour-mixing LED light designed to replace practical bulbs on-set when you need to get a little more control over how they look to camera. With the plethora of dodgy cheap consumer CCFL and LED bulbs on the market these days that people often use in their homes and businesses, these will be a welcome tool in the arsenal of filmmakers.

It is essentially Nanlite’s answer to the Aputure Accent B7C, released in September 2020, but for the Nanlite ecosystem, offering remote control through the NanLink app and a variety of other methods. It offers a CRI of 95, a TLCI of 97, over 36,000 colours with 15 customisable preset modes and a slew of other features.
