The official announcement from OM Digital Solutions is expected tomorrow, during the OM System Plaza. As tends to happen, though, photos and specs of the new camera have leaked a little early. It’s the second new OM camera from OM Digital Solutions since completing its acquisition of Olympus in January 2021. And it looks like it won’t disappoint.
It’s said to be coming at a price lower than the recently released OM System OM-1 and will feature a 20.37-megapixel sensor with 121 AF points, 4K 30fps video, IP53 dust and splashproof weather resistance, live composite mode, 7.5 stops of image stabilisation and all of the usual features you’d expect from a camera brought to you by the brand formerly known as Olympus.
The leaked specs along with strongly believed rumours looks a little something like this.
- OM-5 Body (Black/Silver) scheduled release date: late November 2022
- OM-5 14-150mm II Lens Kit (Black/Silver) release date: late November 2022

- 20.37 million pixel Live MOS sensor
- TruePic IX
- 121-point all-cross image plane phase-detection AF
- 2.36 million dot EVF
- 3-inch 1.04 million-dot vari-angle LCD
- 4K30p video
- Size: 125.3 x 85.2 x 49.7mm
- Weight: 366g
- Starry Sky AF
- live composite
- IP53 dust and splashproof
- handheld high res shot (50MP)
- Small and lightweight system
- Live ND
- Vertical video
- Sensor dust removal unit (SSWF?)
- Pro capture mode up to 14 frames
- Supports up to 7.5 steps of image stabilization
- BLS-50 (from the image information inside the camera)
- Conventional menu system (from image information)
- Cheaper than the current OM-1
It will have an appearance similar to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III, as shown in the leaked photos that accompany the specs.
Beyond “cheaper than the OM-1”, there doesn’t seem to be much information on price yet, but I expect we’ll hear all about that tomorrow during the official announcement.
