Nikon Has Acquired Samsung’s Mirrorless Tech, Says Latest Report

Samsung_NX1_price_specsThe Samsung Saga has taken one heck of an interesting turn.

According to trusted sources of Mirrorless Rumors, the reason Samsung is shutting down its camera business is because Nikon has acquired all Samsung sensor technology.

In the report, Mirrorless Rumors says the acquisition could very well be made public in a month or so when CES 2016 rolls around, as Samsung is set to make a ‘major press announcement’ at the trade show.

Nikon is believed to be using the acquired technology to beef up their own mirrorless lineup in hopes of taking some market share away from Sony, who’s been ruling the roost for quite some time in the mirrorless market.

What’s interesting is that Mirrorless Rumors’ report says the acquisition won’t be a one-off deal. According to sources, Nikon and Samsung will enter into a partnership, where Samsung will continue to develop mirrorless imaging sensors, but only for Nikon products.

If all of this holds up to be true, it could very well be one of the major stories of the year. To keep up to date with the latest rumors, Mirrorless Rumors has created a Nikon Mirrorless forum.
