The Light Lens Lab 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” has officially opened for pre-orders, offering photographers a modern take on one of the most celebrated lenses in photographic history.
You may recognize the original 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical design as a benchmark for optical performance, prized for its combination of sharpness and the distinctive glow it produces at wide apertures. This new version from Light Lens Lab brings that classic character into the contemporary era, with refined materials and optical engineering aimed at high-resolution digital sensors.
Pre-orders opened on November 8, 2025 with deliveries expected between December 2025 and January 2026.
For enthusiasts and collectors, there are options in aluminum with black paint or chrome finishes, as well as a Titanium Grey Limited Edition. While the titanium edition remains limited due to machining complexity, standard versions will be produced without pre-set quantity caps.
Understanding the Lens
The 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” is built as a faithful homage to the original double-aspherical optical concept, a design long admired for its rendering precision and control over distortion.
Light Lens Lab has incorporated modern advancements, including Extra-Low Dispersion and achromatic elements, which minimize chromatic aberrations across the frame. Every component of the lens, from optics to mechanical assembly, is produced in-house to ensure consistent quality and craftsmanship.
The lens is full-frame compatible, designed for Leica M-Mount cameras, and features a minimum focus distance of 0.7 meters. It has nine optical elements in five groups, including aspherical elements positioned strategically in groups two and five.
A 10-blade preset diaphragm provides smooth aperture transitions and contributes to the lens’s signature rendering, particularly the glow that photographers have admired in its predecessors.

Optical Performance
The Light Lens Lab 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” is optimized for contemporary high-resolution sensors, delivering sharpness from the center to the edges of the frame.
You will notice tonal accuracy and contrast even at wide apertures, along with controlled bokeh that separates subjects smoothly from their backgrounds. The aspherical elements, combined with lanthanide-infused optical glass, preserve the classic character of the lens while ensuring modern performance standards.
This lens is particularly suited to street photography, environmental portraits, and low-light situations. Its f/1.4 aperture allows you to work creatively with depth of field, while maintaining a level of sharpness that digital sensors can fully resolve. The signature glow is retained at wide apertures, giving photographs a visual richness that blends classic and modern aesthetics.
Build, Materials, and Accessories
The lens is available in aluminum or titanium construction. The aluminum versions weigh approximately 278 grams, while the titanium edition comes in at 300 grams. Each comes with a lens hood, front and rear caps, and a protective pouch. The titanium version includes additional accessories, such as an exclusive UV filter in titanium, available during the pre-order period.
Mechanically, the lens uses precision-molded and manually polished aspherical elements, offering smooth focus adjustments and reliable performance over time. The full in-house production ensures every lens meets high standards of optical and mechanical consistency.

Pricing and Availability
The aluminum versions of the 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” are priced at $1,399 USD, with titanium editions at $1,699 USD. Pre-orders for the titanium edition close on November 21, 2025, and shipping begins December 1, 2025.
Aluminum finishes will start shipping January 7, 2026. You can place your pre-order on the official product page, which provides full details about the different finishes, accessories, and warranty coverage.
The launch of the Light Lens Lab 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” represents a fusion of classic optical design with modern advancements. For photographers, this lens provides a way to capture images with the traditional character of a historical lens while taking full advantage of contemporary digital imaging technology. You can use it to explore creative photography in a range of environments!
