Introducing Hohem iSteady M7

Hohem has announced the new Hohem iSteady M7 (buy here). It’s compatible with all IOS and Android devices, which Hohem says allows it to work with the native camera app and all the third-party apps.

The Hohem iSteady M7 is a 3-axis gimbal, featuring iSteady’s latest technology. But it now also offers full 360-degree rotation in the vertical axis and subject tracking in all the apps.

AI tracking with every apps

Most gimbals will require pairing with their app for tracking. The iSteady M7, however, plays nicely with everyone. It has an advanced AI tracking feature that works with virtually any app and your native camera. This means you can get gimbal-smooth shots with your tool of choice: TikTok, Snapchat, FaceTime, and even Instagram (where you can only go live with the Instagram app). So, if you are recording or streaming while walking, dancing, cooking, or just moving around, the gimbal locks onto your subject (or you) effortlessly. Since you don’t need an app, you can use gesture controls to start and stop recording, making solo shoots ridiculously easy.

1.4 Inches touchscreen for control

The Hohem iSteady M7 has a 1.4-inch touchscreen, and this is where you control the Gimbal. This touch screen is detachable, so you can move away from the phone and still control framing. The concept is similar to the Hohem iSteady V3 (reviewed here), but instead, of a simple detachable remote, you get a detachable screen).

If you need to tweak settings or check framing, you can do it all directly on the screen without fumbling through a separate device. Or you can move the screen away and do it when standing in front of the Gimbal.

360° Infinite rotation and subject tracking

Unlike Hohem iSteady M6, Hohem iSteady M7 removes the vertical axis limits by providing a full 360 degrees of infinite rotation. This offers more control over your camera movements when shooting.

The Hohem iSteady M7 can recognize any subject. Obviously, people, but also dogs, cats, and horses. This means that along with the new infinite pan axis, you can set your camera down on a tripod and move around freely.

And to make it easy to see when the gimbal’s tracking its subjects, there’s that detachable touchscreen controller. This gives you real-time tracking previews, even if you are further away. These features make the iSteady M7 a powerful and user-friendly smartphone gimbal.

Built-in selfie stick and 500g high payloads

The focus for the Hohem iSteady M7 gimbal is getting smooth footage, but it has a nice feature where it can extend as a selfie stick. This almost two-meter extendable rod is great if you want to control the phone but still gain some distance from the camera. Think drone-like pans, low angles, or group selfies.

Being a phone-first gimbal means that even if your phone is rigged with accessories like external mics or lights, the iSteady M7 can handle it. It has a 500g payload capacity to ensure that even the beefiest setups stay rock solid. (As a reference, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 227 grams, and the Samsung S24 Ultra is 233 grams).
