DJI teaser video hints at official Mavic 2 announcement on August 23rd

It’s going to be interesting to see who gets the most attention on August 23rd. Will it be Nikon, with their two new mirrorless cameras? Or will it be DJI, who we expect to announce a couple of new Mavic 2 drones?

DJI has just published a teaser video to its YouTube channel. The beginning shows a section of what could be one of the new Mavic 2 models, with the date at the end of the video showing… Yes, you guessed it, August 23rd. Nikon Mirrorless day (I’m calling it that, you don’t have to).

As the video begins, a narrator’s voice boomed over my headphones…

For more than a decade, we’ve taken the dimension of space to give you the freedom of flight.

But did you think we’d stop there?

Let us take you beyond the horizon, where something incredible awaits.

It’s about time.

And then it ends with the image and slogan we saw from the cancelled July DJI event teaser. The “It’s about time” and the use of the image & slogan suggest that if it is the Mavic 2, they really did intend to launch it quite a bit sooner.

Hopefully, this event will actually happen and it won’t be delayed again.
