It’s hard not to appreciate the awesomeness of every photo in Chris Burkard’s portfolio, and we have featured his work a couple times in the past–he was even kind enough to share these awesome night landscape photography tips with us last year. So, of course, we’re happy to see his success as a photographer reach new heights.
This time around, it’s happening in the form of Instagram fans. I just spied a tweet from Burkard himself, announcing he has just reached the one million follower milestone. To help him celebrate and give back to his fans, he’s giving “thousands of free prints” away.
Today I am saying Thank You in the best way I know how. Thousands of free prints will given out at this link – bit.ly/burkardmillion Here is the checkout code: THANKSAMILLION ( all caps no spaces ) Thanks again to this epic community for all the a amazing support on reaching a Million followers. *PS- This is on the Honor system to please be cool and get one print each.
If You Want In On The Free Artwork, Hurry
In case you want to grab a free Burkard print of your own (a $50 value), check out Burkard’s Instagram account and follow the instructions on his post there (we’ve also embedded it up there ^^). You’ll be directed to an online gallery where you can choose from about 60 different photos. You’ll just have to spring for the nominal shipping and handling fee. Now that’s a pretty sweet deal. Thanks, Chris! And now here’s more inspiration from Burkard’s Instagram to keep your eyes happy:
Wilderness first… That is the motto at Denali National park.. And you can see it carried it out all around you. I have never been to a park that has put so much emphasis on putting nature first.. No pavement .. No illustrious visitors center or cars backed up viewing animals almost crashing into one another.. Just pure nature in one of its rawest forms. I was lucky to see Moose, caribou , fox , dall sheep, Eagles and more grizzly bears that I can count. This place is a benchmark for wilderness.. It’s a place to be quiet and listen to natures symphony. More times that I can count I found myself compelled to put down my camera and just take it all in. #explorersgrantak A photo posted by ChrisBurkard (@chrisburkard) on
Finally I can set this photo free! I have been waiting for awhile for this new @Instagram feature to drop. I’ve always embraced the full square when I could, mainly because of the challenge of looking at my work in a new way. But I am pretty excited to see some of my pictures & other peoples outside the square, displayed the way they were shot. #DeathoftheSquare I took this a few years ago on lake Maligne. We kayaked 4 hours to our campsite and woke up to a windless morning on this glacial lake. It could be the most perfect morning I have ever seen.
Traveling is incredible, (that might be the most obvious statement ever).. But a couple years ago I realized that almost more important then where I was going was who I was going with… If you surround yourself with people that inspire you, push you creatively and ultimately bring out the best in in you, then you are going to leave with more than just a few good images. It allows you to soak up the experience that much more. Picking a good team of people for a trip can make or break an expedition or even a vacation. *Its always a plus to have people willing to freeze their butt of while you shoot photos all night.
