Instagram-Notifications

Social media can be a great tool to promote yourself as an artist and get your work out there.

However, Facebook is a notorious time-waster and too many people sit tight by their screen after posting something on Instagram or whatever and wait to see how many ‘likes’ and comments they receive.

Two things are certain when it comes to people who run super popular accounts on social media. The first is that they don’t waste time waiting for the social love to come their way, and the second is that they have push notifications turned off on their phones.

How do I know this? Because of this next video, where an Instagram user with 8 million followers turned on his notifications and his iPhone looked like it was having a seizure.

Demy de Zeeuw runs a football/soccer-oriented Instagram account with 8 million followers (8,048,877 to be exact). Giving his Facebook fans a peak of how these numbers translate into followers’ interaction, Demy turned on push notifications on his phone before uploading a new photos. According to TechCrunch, photos on the 433 Instagram account average 200,000 likes, and this is what it looks like:

When you post epic content on instagram.com/433 8 million followers, this is how your pushnotification will look like.. ☕?

Even though Demy’s Facebook page has ‘only’ 35,000 fans, the video has been shared over 30,000 times, liked almost 120,000 times and received almost 32,000 comments.

Something tells me Demy keeps his Facebook notifications off as well…

Don’t let Demy’s easily achieved comments and likes discourage you fighting to build your own presence on social media. Just be warned that should you succeed too much you too will have to say goodbye to push notifications.
