Canon EOS R5 Mark II orders delayed by more than six months

Canon has announced shipping delays on the recently announced Canon EOS R5 Mark II ($4,299). They say that the delays could potentially be six months or even longer if ordering today. Canon blames a global supply parts shortage. Is it still 2020?
Of course, along with the parts shortage comes the usual “more orders than expected” excuse. Prior orders are seemingly being shipped out in order, but new orders will be going to the end of a very long queue.
The notice from Canon reads:
Thank you for your continued patronage of Canon products.
Currently, we are experiencing delivery delays for the following products due to more orders than expected and also due to the impact of global parts supply. We apologize to our customers and business partners for the inconvenience. Products are scheduled to be shipped one after another, but it is expected that the new camera body EOS R5 Mark II will take a long time to ship. We apologize
again for keeping our eager customers waiting for such a long time. We will continue to take measures to ensure a stable product supply so that we can deliver the products as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding.
It lists a number of products, including the Canon EOS R1 ($6,299) and RF200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM lens ($1,899), both of which “may take longer than usual” to deliver. But only the EOS R5 Mark II specifically mentions a timescale.
We plan to ship the products in order, but if you place a new order, it may take more than six months for delivery.
The list also includes a number of other products, including Canon LP-E6P batteries and various accessories for the EOS R1, EOS R5 Mark II, and other RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
So, if you want a Canon EOS R5 Mark II in a reasonable timeframe, you should have ordered it weeks ago. Because ordering today, you’re not going to get it until about Spring 2025.

OMG! The misery! No way to spend the 4k3 bucks I had already put aside for the cam. I’m desparate! How am I supposed to shoot any decent photographs now? Perhaps I can get a resale/gray market model for twice the price. It’s worth it. It must be.
