Aputure finally releases the MC 12-light production kit

Oh yes, you’ve all been waiting a long time for this one. Aputure has now officially announced the launch of the Aputure MC 12-Light Production Kit, initially debuted way back in April 2019 at NAB. It’s a case containing twelve Aputure Amaran MC LED lights, along all the associated hardware and bits to keep them all charged and ready to go at a moment’s notice.

The kit comes, obviously, with the travel case, and the 12 lights, obviously, but Aputure says that the case is “slimmer and sleeker” than the original prototype case shown off last year at NAB. The new case is a fully custom hardshell case that let them shrink the size quite significantly, while still housing 12 MC lights with everything else.

It also features an accessory drawer on the side of the case where you will find silicone diffusers, ball cold shoe ball heads, adhesive mounting pads and various power cable options. Three USB ports have also been added to the case, allowing for faster thcarging than over wireless. It’s standard USB, though, so you don’t have to use it just for your lights, you could also use it for your phone.

You also have your AC and DC inputs on the side for providing power to the case in order to charge up your lights inside. A D-Tap to D-Tap cable lets you charge them all from a V Mount battery. The case can draw up to 120W of power, though, so make sure you’re using one that’s capable of supplying that current. Naturally, as there are power connectors on the outside of this thing, it’s not waterproof. So, be careful not to drop it into any rivers.

The Aptuture MC lights contained within the case are the same Aputure MC lights you’ve come to know and love and offer all the same features as buying the lights individually. But, you get all the benefits of the case, including easy storage and portability as well as charging on the go for all of your lights at once.

The Aputure MC 12-Light Production Kit is available to pre-order now for $1,499 and begins shipping any day now. If you want to find out more about the kit and what’s included, check out the Aputure website.
