This is what famous movie characters would look like in Eastern European setting

Have you ever imagined famous movies and TV series in an alternative surrounding? A witty Russian artist known as 2D Among Us has. He has created a series of photos with characters from our favorite movies and series placed in the Eastern European setting.
2D Among Us describes this project with a question: What would it be if our fantasies were all real? So, this is what it would look like if characters from Game of Thrones, Deadpool, Home Alone, Harry Potter and many others lived in Eastern Europe.

Being from Russia, the artist places most of the characters in the photos from this country. They find themselves in typical Russian parks, streets or schools. Sometimes, they have dinner at “babushka’s” place or hang out in a typical living room. You can often see them on a train or metro. I see there are a lot of urban exploration photos involved, so you can see the characters in abandoned buildings, schools, or decaying outdoor locations.

Other than being funny, the photos are really well done. The tones and the mood are well matched, even the direction of the light. This gives the photos a sense that they are real – and in my opinion, this is what makes them even funnier. Take a look at some more photos from this project:
Although the photos are truly witty and well made, I have to say that they aren’t meant to mock Russia or Eastern Europe in general. They were made by someone who is aware of the reality of his country, but also of the prejudices the rest of the world has about it. I believe he had tons of fun making these photos. And being a Slav myself, I really had a good laugh looking at them. I hope you did, too.

‘Easter’ European…are they wearing bunny ears…?
It’s corrected, but I pictured the scene. :D
Sad as F
I guess it’s just Russia, no EE.
All these photos from Russia. These photos of course can look ridiculous, and in places it’s funny … But do not forget that Russia attacked the Ukraine and Syria and killed tens of thousands of civilians! And these “funny” Russian people sincerely hate and wish death to the Americans, the British and the whole Western world. Putin’s Russia now is a territory of total hatred and evil, do not forget about it!
By popularizing russian lifestyle, do not forget that Putin’s totalitarian political regime, racial hatred, and international military aggression are popularized also. Almost 90 percent of the population of Russia have chosen and support this. Russia is NOT funny!
I wonder if you ever met a living Russian. You are just living in your virtual world of Goods and Bads. Russian people are just like any other nationals, some of them are good, some others are bad, some are funny, and others awful.
With your preconception a European – eastern or western all the same – could say the Americans are crazy, unpredictable and ridiculous, because Trump is like that and the Americans elected him a president.
A few of them are jarring but most of these are among the best composites I’ve ever seen. Amazing work.
? Easter Europeans. Hahahahaha
I really try to refrain from negative online comments as there are too many trolls on the net as is. Honestly though, I find the original pictures were really good without having to have them cheapened by dropping pop-culture icons into them. It comes across like amateur DJs techno/house/dubstep remix of your favorite song accompanied by the headline: “This is what would happen if The Beatles walking into a club in 2017”. Some of the composites were well done, many are not. I guess this series was made to be bounced around BuzzFeed, HuffingtonPost and BoredPanda for a few weeks before being forgotten again.
