Step By Step Instruction For Building The Coolest 2-Axis Gimbal

With Gimbals becoming more common, it is not surprising that DIY versions emerge, and with the maturity of technology, they are usually pretty awesome. But this 2-Axis gimbal from Daniel Rhyoo stands out big time!

Aside the slick looks, light weight and carbon fiber finish, Daniel provides full instructions, as well as a full part-list on his site.

Daniel, who was in his sophomore year made this gimbal as a High-school project and it looks like something that came out of a MoVI factory.

The base for the gimbal is an Alexmos 2-Axis control board and a couple of I Power 5208 brushless motors. The solid files for the gimbal can be downloaded here (Daniel had to learn solidworks to make them). And then it is mostly a matter of following the steps as Daniel progresses with the build.

The results as you can see in the video above, are quite impressive.

The parts are made on a desktop CNC mill going through woven carbon fiber plates. And handles and bars are made from Carbon tubes – Cool!! Both the motors and the board are powered with a 2200mAh Flightmax LIPO Battery.
