The new iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 controls your DJI gimbal

iFootage has announced the new Shark Slider Nano 2 ($649+). The company says it was developed in conjunction with DJI to add gimbal integration to the new slider. They even created a new “patented DJI adapter” that allows the gimbal to mount directly on the slider.
Combining gimbals and sliders has been happening for a little while now. YC Onion, for example, announced the Chips 3.0 motorised slider ($699) in 2021, which is compatible with a range of DJI, Zhiyun, and Feiyutech gimbals. But it’s always nice to see more options.
Slider + Gimbal = Smooth motion controlled shots
The iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 (we’ll just call it Nano 2 from here) is a fairly short slider. Actually, the Nano 2 is available in two different lengths, but they’re both fairly short. The short 18.2″ (233mm) long model offers only 9.2″ (233mm) of travel. The longer 26.1″ (663mm) model offers a slightly longer 17″ (433mm) of travel.
This doesn’t sound like a whole lot, and it’s not. But many shots, especially in relatively close quarters, don’t need a particularly long travel distance to get the point across. Both gimbals have a horizontal payload capacity of 7kg and a vertical capacity 3.5kg. This includes the weight of the gimbal.

The gimbal integration allows you to control the movement of both the slider and gimbal simultaneously. You’re able to set up multiple keyframes for the combo to bounce through during filming. You essentially get a 5-axis PTZ camera that you can pre-program moves into.
While we’ve seen a few slider & gimbal integrations before, this one looks to be the most evolved out there – at least on paper. Both devices communicate directly with each other using contacts on the gimbal mount, and you can charge your entire setup with a single Type C USB-PD cable (and 60W USB-PD charger or power bank). You can also use an NP-F battery.
Price and Availability
The iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 is available to pre-order now for $649 for the 9.1″ travel model and $749 for the 17″ travel model. Units are slated to begin shipping in November.
