This is what the A7III looks like from a photographer perspective

Ever since the Sony A7III was announced, it drew quite a bit of attention. Some of the features like eye-tracking seem almost too good to be true. Photographer Manny Ortiz takes us for a ride in the driver’s sit photographers viewfinder on a shoot with the camera. I gotta say, it’s an impressive piece of kit.

The first thing Manny highlights is the eye-tracking autofocus. Look at the Gif below to judge if this is something you would enjoy working with.

Autofocus seems to be holding well even at 10 frames per second. While 10 frames per seconds is not a must for many types of work, Manny testifies that it’s nice to have the option to shoot a sequence, then select the exact split second you’d like to use.

The last piece of focusing help comes with the dedicated button to switch autofocus modes. Manny uses this button to instantly swap from whatever he was focusing on to eye tracking focus, I can see this being a loved feature both with sports and event photographers.

If you wanna see the entire shoot, head over to Manny’s channel.
