It’s Morning Again in… Vancouver. Marco Rubio Misuses Vancouver Stock Footage As American Coast

Stock footage and stills are used for more purposes than we can imagine, but they are often used in political campaign ads, even if the message they send is sometimes a little confused.

In Marco Rubio’s case, it sends the message that his editing team aren’t very good at proofing the footage they license.

In the opening sequence of this Reagan-inspired video, voiced over by the phrase “It’s morning again in America”, we see a the sun rising over the Canadian city of Vancouver, originally shot by Guy Chavasse last year.

Humor: This Video Helps Explain Why Office Stock Photography Always Looks So Cheesy


Almost everyone who has had the misfortune of sifting through stock photos of office life has the same exact same question mind: “Why is there a doctor in the office flipping through charts?” Well, ponder no longer my friends. The creatives behind YouTube channel Nacho Punch have released a video that explains this ages old conundrum, along with explaining several other notable cliches like why are there always women eating salads with cherry tomatoes on their forks and what about that stressed out guy who’s always frantically shouting into two phones at once?

Adobe Slaps Creative Professionals In the Face – Launches Re-Branded Microstock Content Leach

Back when Adobe acquired Fotolia I think most creative professionals were really excited to see what Adobe had in mind for the stock industry.

I mean, a player as big as Adobe had the power to totally re-imagine the sale of stock photography, video and illustration for the benefit of their corporate bottom line and their loyal customer base (after all, creative professionals are the reason Adobe exists in the first place).

But, with todays update to Adobe Creative Cloud, instead we get Adobe Stock – in my opinion, nothing more than a re-branded microstock blood sucking content leach and a slap in the face to creative professionals everywhere.

Photographer Comically Photoshops Himself Photobombing Actors In Stock Images

There’s some pretty interesting and bizarre stock photography floating around the Internets and we’ve also undoubtedly seen some pretty clever uses for it. But, The Stock Photobomber (Matt Vescovo) may have just stole the show with his tongue in cheek series of Photoshopped stock images.

After painstakingly looking at about 845,742,923,012 stock photos during his 20-year long career as an art director in advertising, he’s come up with a way to make looking at boring, unrealistic stock images a whole lot more fun.

Stock Photography or Just Awesome Family Photos?

One of the things that I love about creating stock photography is that it gives me an incentive to create very artistic and polished photographs of my own family.

I have been shooting for Stocksy for nearly a year now, and a sizable portion of my portfolio are photos of family members – to steal a line from Chase Jarvis:

“The best model is the one you have with you”

When I look back on my portfolio, I see a whole year of family photos that are completely different than the snapshots I would normally take.

Anatomy of a Christmas Stock Photography Shoot

I am not primarily a stock photographer, but I do contribute to a few stock agencies (primarily Stocksy United).  Right now, I mostly see stock photography as a way to earn passive income by leveraging leftover photography from paid gigs or personal work into additional revenue streams.

It’s pretty sweet to check your stock photography stats and find out that you just earned some extra cash from work that would otherwise just be sitting on a hard drive somewhere.

However, every once in a while I do go out to specifically shoot stock photography.
