The Most Annoying Things People Say To Wildlife Photographers

Tony Northrup and his wife, Chelsea shared this gem with us on their Facebook page today, and I’m pretty sure every wildlife photographer who has ever made the mistake of bringing a non-photographer with them on a photo adventure will really appreciate it.
“Did you ever get your pictures in National Geographic? [No] That’s too bad, my uncle did once.”
The short, 4-minute satire shows Tony out there trying snap some stealthy nature shots while his wife pretends to be the naive tag-along/passer by, delivering one soul crushing remark after another (in perfect comedic form). Watch the clip and have a good laugh, here:

@jimgoldstein fantastic! I feel your pain!
I love it…….so entertaining :)
Since when is Tony Northrup a wildlife photographer?
“Canon vs Nikon”
Which is better? Here is the truth one of them doesn’t want you to know.
Expertly trolled by the YouTube banners.
“I like that your lens matches your outfit.”
I think that says more than he expected. I have known a lot of wildlife photographers, I have never seen one dressed in this way, especially with a camo lens (or in a dog park).
“Doesn’t auto-focus do all the work?”
Countless experiences as a photographer and videographer where I live (Alaska) … time after time visitors to Alaska come up to me wherever I may be to play 20,000 questions with me while I try to focus on a bear or some other critter, as if I am a tour guide for them. It’s annoying and at times has been dangerous.
“You should take photography classes; they have some at the community college.”
I’m certainly interested in continually improving and know that everyone always has room for improvement and can learn more… but the only photography course offered at my local community college is a beginner course. Meanwhile, the person who made this comment thinks her husband is a photographer with his iPhone and Instagram filters.
Someone should do one on what’s annoying to people who have lost somebody. a lot of people are annoyed that people won’t talk to them but I’m afraid to talk to them because of making people mad.
