Pergear has announced some new CFexpress Type A cards. As with most Pergear products, they’re inexpensive. Despite the low cost, they still offer decently quick speeds. As CFexpress Type A cards, they’re designed for use with Sony mirrorless cameras – as everybody else uses CFexpress Type B.

The cards are available in 80GB, 260GB and 520GB capacities, with the two larger capacity cards offering read and write speeds of up to 880MB/sec and 900MB/sec, respectively. The 80GB card offers max read and write speeds of 800MB/sec for both.

The 260GB and 520GB cards, despite offering higher maximum write speeds, have a lower minimum guaranteed write speeds of the new cards at 400MB/sec. That’s still pretty quick and should suffice for many users. But if you need faster throughput for higher resolutions, faster frame rates and greater bit-depth, the 80GB card has a minimum write speed of 600MB/sec.

As well as the three new cards, Pergear has also announced a new CFexpress Type A + SD card reader. At the moment, it looks like the Pergear CFexpress Type A reader isn’t available on its own, but is available bundled with one of the new cards.

Price and Availability

The Pergear CFexpress Type A cards are available with or without the CFexpress Type A + SD card reader. The cards alone cost $99 for 80GB, $189 for 260GB and $359 for 520GB. The combos with the CFexpress Type A + SD card reader cost $119 for 80GB, $219 for 260GB and $389 for 520GB.

Never cut corners on memory cards. Never. I saved money on Lexar cards (who are reputable) and my data got corrupted. Only buy the best- and these look like dollar store knock offs.
