NASA and Insta360 Pro 2 bring you immersive view from the Perseverance Mission Control

As you probably know by now, NASA’s Perseverance rover made a successful landing on Mars yesterday. And if you wish you could have been in the Mission Control and share the joy – Insta360 takes you there. Virtually, of course. NASA used Insta360 Pro 2 to live stream the entire event and bring it closer to you than ever.

NASA live-streamed the historic event from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. I watched the regular “2D” live stream yesterday, but this one lets you click and drag around the room in 360 degrees. It’s available on YouTube in 4K, in case you missed it yesterday. And even if you didn’t, it’s fun to see everything almost as if you were in the room with NASA engineers.

“It’s truly an electric experience to watch the Perseverance rover plunge through the Martian atmosphere at more than 12,000 mph with the engineers who spent years making it happen,” Insta360 writes. Indeed, I found it magical, and I could feel their joy when the rover landed successfully. I even shed a tear of joy, and if you’re a softie like me, check out the moment of celebration at 1:46:17 of the video.

NASA also shared the first photos Perseverance took upon landing. And if you’d like to have some fun, you can play around with this tool that allows you virtually visit Mars, the launch pad, or the Mission Control. We still can’t go to Mars… But with the Perseverance mission, we may come a little closer to it.
