If you’re not using the paint can tool in Lightroom to help you keep your photos organized, you could be wasting a lot of time. Pro photographer and all around Photoshop champion, Jared Platt, will show you all the details in the quick sub 2 1/2-minute long clip, above.

Using The Paint Can Tool

If you’ve already used the paint can tool for things like quickly selecting metedata, labels, etc, you probably already know how easy it is to use. Just grab the can (found at the bottom of the screen) and make sure it’s set to “Keyword”. All that’s left to do is to type in a keyword you’d like to attach to a large group of photos, then use the spray can to select those photos and apply the keyword change.

Easy peasy.

Don’t forget to try the paint can tool out for other things, if you aren’t already using it. It can help you master the art of efficient workflow once and for all!

It would have been more useful if the mouse pointer was visible during most of the tutorial or if he moved it slow enough to see what was going on. But it does get the point across, I will have to try this.
