As anticipated, Leica revealed a new minute ago their Leica SL Typ-601 system. This is a Mirrorless, 24 MP CMOS sensor camera with a Maestro II processor, that can go up to ISO 50,000.

The camera also boasts a WiFi connection, a weather-sealed body and a new 4.4MP EyeRes EVF.

The camera shoots an impressive 11 FPS and its video capabilities enable shooting 4K@30FPS with a clean HDMI output port @ 4:2:2 10-bit format.

Mechanical shutter will go up to 1/8,000, and Leica says that they will support an electronic option later on (maybe via a firmware update?).

If it’s fine build that you are looking for, you’ll be happy to hear  that the SL Typ-601 is milled from one solid aluminum block making it both beautiful and pretty rugged. Leica says that

The use of numerous seals in the camera body, its control elements, and the Leica SL-Lenses makes it virtually impossible for dust, moisture, or water to get inside. Specially hardened front glasses with AquaDura® coating protect the lenses against dirt, dust, and moisture”

I guess that all that goodness must come with a price. The Leica SL Typ-601 system will be available at Nov 16th, and will set you back roughly $7,500 which would be just enough to buy two Sony A7RII bodies, and have some spare for lenses.
