Not too long ago, we shared a really awesome legography project by Samsofy, where he uses Lego people as subjects in his incredibly fun portrait series. Of course, there are very few situations where working with Legos wouldn’t be fun and this sweet little web app called Legoizer is certainly not one of them.
The idea behind Legoizer is simple: upload your photo and get back a blueprint that shows you what your photo would look like if you were to make a mural of if using Legos. The best part is, it also gives a full parts list including colors, sizes, and quantities needed, so you’ll know exactly which pieces you’ll need to turn the blueprint into a reality.
The schematics for the Legoized photo of the zebra would give me a 5’3″ wide and 4’10” tall! (159.2cm x 148.5cm) sized mural. That’s a lot of Legos. Here is a very short portion of the shopping list the app gave me:
Once I’ve acquired all the Lego pieces I’d need to build this giant piece of wall art, I just head over to the instructions tab and punch in a line number:
Though the most obvious use of one of these would be wall art, with the right photo it could also make an interesting table top if you were to reinforce it with some wood below and seal it with clear resin. The sky’s the limit–go nuts, guys!
