JetBlue airline dares you to delete all your Instagram photos to win a year of free flights

Do you have a mild panic attack when you think about all your Instagram photos completely disappearing from your profile? Would it be easier if that could earn you a year of unlimited flights all over the world? In a weird Instagram challenge, JetBlue airline dares users to clear their profiles from all photos, and they’ll have a chance to win a year of free flights.

The challenge is pretty easy to follow if you’re ready to give up all your precious Instagram shots you’ve posted so far. You need to delete all those images and only post a photo using JetBlue’s template. You’re required to add a hashtag #ALLYOUCANJETSWEEPSTAKES, tag @JETBLUE, and make your profile public if it isn’t already.

You can only enter once, and the challenge lasts until 8 March 2019, so there are three days left. JetBlue writes that it offers “unlimited flights for a year” to the lucky winner, but notes that “taxes and fees apply to each flight.” I guess this means that flights are not exactly free – but heavily discounted at least.

While the challenge requires you to delete all your Instagram photos, worry not: if you win, you’ll be able to start from scratch and post photos from everywhere you fly with JetBlue. However, the company doesn’t explain why you must delete all your photos before posting its promo image. As TechCrunch notes, perhaps JetBlue hopes to replicate the same viral moment as Fyre Festival with that burnt orange square.

Now, for some photographers, Instagram is an integral part of promoting their work. And I believe few of them would agree to delete months and even years of effort they put into building a brand a growing an audience. Other people use it to store and share important moments in their lives. Finally, some use it for occasional snapshots without any special meaning to them. Maybe JetBlue wants to make you question how much are those Instagram photos really important to you. And if they are less important than a year of (almost) free flights: well, you know what to do. There are three days left to enter the competition and you can find more info on JetBlue’s website.
