Godox unveils the take-anywhere iM30 camera flash

Godox has announced the release of the iM30, a new consumer-grade camera flash aimed at photographers who want extreme portability as well as performance. With this latest addition to the lineup, Godox gives us a flash that balances efficiency, ease of use, and enhanced lighting from the on-camera hotshoe position.

Godox says the iM30 is for photographers who often work in dynamic environments and need reliable, compact equipment. Unlike the Ad200 Pro II, this really is pocket sized, weighing only 78 grams and small enough to slip into a pocket or camera bag, making it ideal for those who shoot on the go and don’t want to rely on the pop-up flash.

Key features

Compact and Portable Design
The iM30’s lightweight construction (78g) makes it extremely portable. Photographers can easily mount or carry it anywhere. Its small form factor ensures it doesn’t add unnecessary bulk to camera setups.

Enhanced Natural Lighting
With a guide number of 15 (ISO 100, meters), the iM30 offers superior fill light performance compared to standard built-in camera flashes. This allows photographers to achieve natural-looking, well-lit photos, even in challenging lighting conditions. The improved lighting capabilities result in more balanced, professional-quality images.

Adjustable Power Levels
One of the iM30’s most practical features is its seven adjustable power settings, ranging from 1/64 to 1/1. This flexibility ensures that users can quickly adapt to different lighting environments and fine-tune the flash output to achieve the desired effect.

Long-Lasting Power
The flash is powered by readily available AAA batteries, delivering up to 230 flashes per charge. This ensures the iM30 can handle longer shoots without frequent battery changes.

Looks a bit too basic to me. If the flash head could be tilted / rotated it would make it much more flexible. Even better if they integrated remote flash control, kind of like an X2T but with a built-in flash.

if it takes rechargeable batteries and if they don’t drain when in the unit, this could be super cool to just have for my X100F
