Fujinon announces MK cinema zoom lenses for X mount

Earlier this year, Fujinon announced two cinema zoom lenses: MK 50-135mm T2.9 and MK 18-55mm T2.9. As they are currently available for Sony E-mount, Fujinon plans to expand the series and make it available for X mount as well.

Both these lenses are fast, compact, versatile, and affordable (at least for cine lenses). They are identical in dimensions and weight, which makes them easy to switch between the lenses during the shoot. So, if you own a Fujifilm X-series camera, you will be able to use these lenses natively.

According to the official press release from Fujinon, the MK cinema lenses for X mount are coming by the end of this year:

The “MK” lenses are compatible with E-mount*6 cameras with the Super 35mm*/ APS-C sensor.

X Mount versions of the MK lenses (with focal lengths of 18-55mm and 50-135mm) used in the FUJIFILM X Series line of digital cameras (with APS-C sensors) are being developed for launch by the end of this year. Information about the X Mount lenses will be provided as soon as more details are confirmed.

I will remind you that the MK 18-55mm T2.9 was announced to be available at the end of March, and the MK 50-135mm T2.9 was about to arrive in the summer of 2017. However, an issue with iris blades on the 18-55mm will cause some delivery delays. All in all, the Sony E-mount version of the lenses will hopefully be available this summer, as planned. And if you want to get one of these for your Fujifilm camera, you will need to wait for the end of 2017. We are not yet familiar with the price, but I’m guessing there’s no reason for it to be significantly different from the E-mount variant of the lenses.
