Move over, blockbuster action cameras there’s a new thumb-sized terror in town, and it doesn’t even need charging breaks with 200 minutes of runtime. Meet the Dreame LEAPTIC Cube, the action camera so advanced it might start filming your dreams while you sleep. Okay, not literally, but it’s close.

First things first: this isn’t your run-of-the-mill clunky camcorder. No, this thing is pocket-sized, AI-powered, and apparently knows more about your adventures than you do. The LEAPTIC Cube boasts 8K video capture, which is basically four times more pixels than a regular 4K camera, or, if you’re old school, thirty-two times the resolution of that decade-old flip phone you can now throw away.

Dreame Global proudly talks about 10-bit P-Log cinematic freedom, which sounds like a fancy yoga pose but really just means your footage gets juicy color tones and gradients that would make even a sunset blush. Shadows? Highlights? The camera treats them like VIP guests at a Hollywood party that everyone gets invited, and everyone looks good.

The Proof is in the Video

Now, for all the clumsy folks out there, rejoice: the LEAPTIC Cube comes with gesture control. Wave your hand like a tech-savvy sorcerer and boom it starts recording. Perfect for situations where pushing a button feels oh-so 20th Century.

Let’s talk angle of view. At a 155° ultra-wide, this baby sees more than your nosy neighbor peering over the fence. Want to vlog your cat’s dramatic leap from the couch? This camera has already begun processing the sequel.

There’s even Ultra-Long Pre-Recording, which translates into: “Hey, we’ll start filming before you even think about that crazy stunt.” So if your friend randomly twerks at your wedding (God forbid), the LEAPTIC Cube has it covered and ready for viral release.

No limits

For a company that is better known for its robotic vacuum cleaners the LEAPTIC Cube could be a “leap” in faith, but it’s tiny, powerful, and it might make other action cameras feel deeply inadequate. If a thumb-sized gadget ever achieves world domination, this could be it.

The Dreame LEAPTIC Cube is not merely an incremental update but a product that combines 8K resolution with practical AI intelligence in a tiny, robust package. It’s expected to enter the North American market in 2026, with estimated retail prices set at $439.99 for the 64GB Standard Set and $459.99 for the 128GB Standard Set.

Enjoy.

But does it have the optical stabilizer that only the Sony FDR-X3000 had, back then, more than a decade ago? Replaceable battery? And an IP65-rated wristband-sized wireless video remote? The camera itself being splashproof out of the box with IP65 dive enclosure available? What about a Zeiss lens? I’d rather spend $150 on a used X3000 than $440 on this device. But, yeah, who can live without AI, touch gestures and 8K nowadays?
