DJI NEO 2

Imagine a drone that takes off from your palm, reads your gesture, and follows you smoothly as you cycle, hike or just wander through a park. That’s the promise of the new DJI Neo 2, and it may be the most approachable follow‑me camera drone the company has released.

With upgrades such as omnidirectional obstacle sensing, a mini onboard display, gesture and voice controls, and high‑quality 4K video, the Neo 2 is designed to make creative flight easier for you, no matter your skill level.

At the same time DJI is navigating regulatory tensions in the United States, so if you’re based there you’ll want to keep a close eye on availability and support. If you’re ready to elevate your content capture, the Neo 2 might be worth your consideration.

Lightweight Design and Upgraded Safety Features

The Neo 2 weighs just 151 grams, making it one of DJI’s lightest drones to feature full omnidirectional obstacle sensing. That means you get vision sensors all around the aircraft, a forward‑facing LiDAR unit, and a downward infrared sensor for positioning.

The integration of full propeller guards is a practical touch, especially if you plan to fly in tighter spaces or near people. These safety features are especially relevant if you’re exploring personal follow me flying without an experienced crew.

New Control Options: Gesture, Voice and Remote

One of the Neo 2’s most distinctive strengths is the variety of ways you can fly it. Gesture Control allows you to move the drone using your hand: raise a single palm to hover or instruct directional changes, or use both palms to bring it closer or send it away.

Voice commands via smartphone or Bluetooth headphones open up hands‑free flying while you’re active. If you prefer a more traditional experience, the drone supports the RC‑N3 remote controller and a motion controller plus FPV goggles for immersive flight experiences

This flexibility means you can use the Neo 2 casually for a quick video or bring it into more serious creative production.

Stronger Camera and Smart Shoot Modes

The Neo 2 features a 12 MP, 1/2‑inch sensor with f/2.2 aperture paired with a new 2‑axis gimbal, delivering 4K video up to 100 fps for slow motion, plus 2.7K vertical video for social sharing.

Combined with enhanced ActiveTrack tracking speeds up to 12 m/s, and eight‑direction tracking (forward, backward, left, right and diagonals), the drone broadens creative possibilities on the move. Smart modes like Dolly Zoom for dramatic perspectives, QuickShots (Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Helix and more) and MasterShots to automate capturing and editing combine for ease of use. The addition of SelfieShot mode lets you fly without a controller and still frame full body, waist‑up or long shots.

If you’re looking for a drone that can keep up with sports, travel vlogging or creative everyday capture, the Neo 2 delivers meaningful upgrades.

Where to Use DJI Neo 2?

For you as a content creator, the DJI Neo 2 offers several clear advantages. The lightweight nature makes it ideal for travel, hikes, bike rides or casual creative capture. Gesture and voice controls free you from always needing a remote, so you can film solo and still get interesting movement and composition.

The sensor and intelligent modes mean higher quality footage than typical entry drones, making it appealing for social content, vlogging or lightweight cinematic work.

That said, mindful planning is still important. Battery life (around 19 minutes in many cases) remains modest compared to larger drones. So if you’re shooting in demanding conditions, wind or temperature may reduce flight time further. Also review local regulations for flying over people or in restricted zones especially if you are operating in the US, where the broader regulatory status may affect future firmware or network support.

The DJI Neo 2 presents a strong update in the compact follow‑me drone category. If you’re ready to bring more camera drone freedom into your shoots, check the official DJI site or authorised dealers for availability in your region.
