DJI is building a new futuristic HQ with a giant sky bridge for testing drones and robot-fighting rings

If there’s one thing you can say about DJI, it’s that they’re pretty much leading the way in every field they choose to enter. They control 70% of the drone market and their new Ronin-S gimbal has received much praise. Now they’re looking to build a new futuristic headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

DJI has teamed up with leading architectural firm Foster + Partners to design the new HQ, which is comprised of a pair of towers, joined together by a giant sky bridge. As well as allowing transport between the two towers, the new bridge is designed to show off new drone technology. They’ll also hold formal product launches in a new DJI theatre.

Architects Journal recently posted a video showing some of the design concepts and interior of the new DJI HQ.

Our aim is to create a unique environment that embodies the spirit of invention and innovation that has allowed DJI to lead the world in robotics and technology.

– Grant Brooker, Head of Studio, Foster + Partners

The ground floor of the facilities will also include a theatre for product launches, a new exhibition space, and state of the art gyms. Huge column-free quadruple height areas will be used for indoor drone flight testing.

It’s a very ambitious looking building, and there doesn’t seem to be any word yet on exactly when construction will commence nor be completed. But I do like the idea of robot fighting rings. Maybe we’ll see DJI streaming their very own Robot Wars.
