Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is one of those contests that always makes me eagerly wait for its results. There is still a month left before it’s closed for entries, but hey, that doesn’t mean they won’t make our day today!

To help us start off August and this work week on a positive note, Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards has shared with us some of the best photos submitted to the contest so far. They will make you giggle, improve your mood, but also prompt you to submit your own photos and who knows – perhaps become the next Comedy Wildlife photographer of the year.

The contest was co-founded in 2015, so it’s approaching its 10-year jubilee. Professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam is the duo behind the contest, and they wanted to create a competition that focused on the lighter side of wildlife photography. But there’s more to it: they also wanted to help promote the conservation of wildlife and habitats through humor, which remains the contest’s mission. Each year, the competition highlights a charity working to help champion conservation. This year, Comedy Wildlife is supporting the Whitley Fund For Nature by donating 10% of its total net revenue to the charity.

Like every year, the contest is free to enter. Professional and amateur photographers from anywhere in the world can enter up to ten photos across six categories: Land, Air, Juniors (for those aged 18 and under), Portfolio (a selection of four images), Underwater, and Video Clips.

As for the prizes, they range from a once-in-a-lifetime safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya, a subscription to Affinity Photo, a camera bag from ThinkTank and, of course, the prestigious title of 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Take a look at the funniest entries so far, and hurry up and submit your own photos before 1 September 2022. And stay tuned, as the finalists will be announced in October.
