Adobe Officially Announces Lightroom CC and Lightroom 6

As expected, the new Lightroom was just announced and it comes in both CC and 6 versions.
The details mentioned in the premature post we shared earlier today turned out to be spot on, and Lightroom CC will be available as part of the Creative Cloud Photography plan while Lightroom 6 will be available as a standalone item to be downloaded or on DVD.

Mine did it straight away last night
It downloads cc as a Standalone rather than updating the existing LR5 so I’ve now got two versions of LR on our Mac
Yup, it come down late last night.
Is there no upgrade for the boxed product? I can’t find a reference to it anywhere.
If you have a previous version, you can upgrade to the stand-alone Lightroom 6 for $79.
You goto the download page and then you can hit Edit in the top right and you can choose Full or Upgrade.

You can upgrade thru Adobe’s website. Go here: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/versions.html Click Buy on the right of Adobe Lightromm 6 and then click your buying options. Lightroom 6 upgrade download is 79 bucks. I’ve already purchased it, download it, and installed it without any problems. You should know that there is s difference in Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC. There will be NO Updates to Lightroom 6 like in the past versions. I think you are misunderstanding that. You are correct, there is no check by LR 6, but the wasn’t one for LR 5 either and we got all kinds of dot updates for LR 5. I think that they mean you get instantaneous updates with LR CC. I think that there would be total abandonment of LR if they didn’t put out the dot updates as that would mean no new cameras would be recognized until Adobe put out LR 7, In that case LR 6 might become unusable for someone that buys a new model in the next couple of months for almost two years. I don’t think Adobe would be that foolish.
I have Lightroom 4 do I need Lightroom 5 befor I get 6?
No I upgraded standalone 4 to standalone 6 yesterday. No problems.

I could use the panorama feature. As a photographer still shooting film in 2011, I started using Lightroom 4 because I liked the ability to create a database of the scanned images.
But, if Lightroom’s requirements for panoramic merge require RAW files, then that’s a downer. I found that I could use Corel Paint Shop Pro to create a panorama using JPEGs scanned from film. Yea, it was a lot of work, but the effort was worth it.
PS: I still shoot film, but I added digital in 12/2013.
