If you happen to have a Chromecast and Android phone, you can use the combo to stream footage to a monitor, tv, projector, basically any kind of display with an HDMI port for the Chromecast. In the video from Mr. Cheesy Cam (below), you can see exactly how to do it.
The video shows you how to do this on a Canon DSLR and it’s important to note that not all cameras will work with the Chromecast. The Canon DSLR allows the Android phone to connect to it via a USB OTG cable, thus keeping the wifi signal open for use by the Chromecast (which the Chromecast needs for this to work). You’ll also need the DSLR Controller app, and as previously mentioned, an existing wireless network.
What you will essentially be doing is streaming your DSLR to the Android device, then streaming your Android to the Chromecast. There is a little bit of lag, so Mr. Cheesy Cam doesn’t recommend the setup for fast shooting, but it still has plenty of useful applications making it at least noteworthy.

also, the usb micro-b-otg to mini-b cable is nice to eliminate the bulky, regular usb otg micro and mini cables.

Wrong.
You also need to happen to have a camera of only one of two brands.
This does not work with the SDI or HDMI or analog video output of any regular camera as the title and RSS-abstract suggests.
I don’t realy see a good use in this. The delay from my 70d to my sony xperia z1 over OTG is already noticable. PLUS the delay from chromecast, it would not allow a fluid workflow.
Bad luck, canon doesn’t even give you a clean HDMI out signal, so hdmi is not a real option either.
