Buy this $250K sports car and they’ll toss in a limited-edition Leica T (Typ701)

I’ve always told myself that if somehow money were never an issue, my car of choice would be the BAC Mono, a specialist sports car created by the high-end British car manufacturer Briggs Automotive Company. Well, today, I found out that not only would I receive a Formula 1 inspired car, but also a limited-edition Leica T (Typ701) designed specifically to be sold with the car.

That’s right. Purchasing this $250K street-legal car will also make you the owner of an extremely limited-edition Leica T (Typ701).

First discovered by a reader of Leica Rumors, this realization came to light when a reader came across an interesting display at the Briggs Automotive Company’s (BAC) Mono sports car launch in Hong Kong.

According to the reader, BAC Hong Kong reached out to Leica to commission ten copies of the Leica T (Typ701) for the first ten buyers of the BAC Mono.

PR from neither BAC or Leica confirmed whether it’s a complete Leica T (Typ701) kit or body only, but considering the zeroes involved, it’s likely the former. Whatever the setup is, there’s no difference between a standard Leica T (Typ701) and the BAC model, with the exception of engravings of the BAC, Mono and number serialization.

For the auto nerds, such as myself, the BAC Mono features a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission, with a top speed of 170 mph. While it’s manufactured in the UK, BAC is exporting a handful of models to car enthusiasts and millionaires around the world.

It doesn’t take much to see why these two companies teamed up with one another. The smooth, sharp curves of both machines seem to accentuate one another. And, since both are as much a status symbol as they are technological achievements in their respective fields, buyers will naturally appreciate the complimentary camera.
