I’m not quite sure what the fascination is with offering Leica cameras with the purchase of a vehicle is, but it appears to be a trend that’s growing.

Late last year, we reported that car manufacturer Briggs Automotive Company was giving away a custom Leica T (Typ701) with every purchase of its $250K BAC Mono. Now, it appears BMW is getting in on the action, also offering a free Leica T (Typ701) with the purchase of its BMW i3 Mr Porter Edition.

In speaking to The Verge, BMW Head of Design Benoit Jacob says the limited-edition i3 is ‘a car for anyone who loves the extraordinary.’ It also appears to be for those who are able to afford the extraordinary.

While no price has officially been announced for the limited-edition electric vehicle, the i3 starts out at $42K stock and this particular edition not only comes with a $1,600 camera, but also a $440 hat, a $215 umbrella, a $120 set of city guides and a $600 pair of sunglasses.
