One of the main selling points of the recently announced Sony alpha a7II is its 5-axis in-camera image stabilization. YouTube user Sean Ellenwood uploaded a video yesterday that shows how the Sony’s 4.5 stops of stabilization exactly work. Since stabilization is done in-camera it should also work with 3rd-party lenses.
What’s amazing about 5 axis stabilization is that it works (as the name suggest) not only on the X and Y axis, which moves the sensor up and down and sideways, but also has pitch, yaw and roll which pushes and pulls the sensor’s top and bottom as well as rotate it.
This should gain an additional 4-5 stops of stability.

P.S. Don’t try this at home. We suspect hours of sensor dust cleaning followed that video

I’ve seen different answers to this question…if I buy the camera from Japan, will I be able to get an English menu or am I going to need to learn Japanese?
ask in store
Good news for you: The Sony’s going to be available in the US starting on December 8. According to Sony it will ship before chistmas :)
In Japan you will need to buy it from the overseas model store in Ginza. All of the Sony’s at Bic Camera and Yodobashi will all be in Japanese only.
