“It’s all been done before.” I’m sure that you’ve had this thought many times, and sometimes it’s so overwhelming that it makes you lose the desire to create. But the good thing is – it isn’t true. In this video from Light Club, you can see why this thought is wrong, and that “there’s always a new trick to shoot an old dog.”
One of the challenges of being an artist is coming up with something new and not seen before. And it sure is tough. But, this video illustrates through dog photography that it still can be done. One of the first photos of a dog was shot in the 1850s. Since then, dogs have been featured in many iconic images, from photojournalism to street photography. Still, throughout the years, many artists have found unique ways to photograph dogs.
Remember Andrius Burba’s “Under-Dogs” project, when he photographed dogs from underneath? Or dog headshots from a photo booth? There’s a heartwarming project showing dogs and babies, and dogs paired with their look-alike poets. And these are only a few examples.
From time to time, you may see someone’s unique, interesting project and think: “I wish I had thought of that!” This proves that not everything has been done before, and there are always ways to create something unique, inspiring and new.
