Wildlife Photographer of the Year is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. This year’s contest received a staggering 59,228 entries from all over the world. Other than the overall and category winners, determined by a panel of jury, the public gets to decide who’s going to be the audience’s favorite. As Dr. Douglas Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum, explains:

“The People’s Choice Award allows members of the public from across the globe to join the jury and vote for their winning image, inspiring everyone to connect with the natural world. As always, this year’s selection of images for the competition’s sixtieth anniversary is truly exceptional, and we can’t wait to see which one will be chosen as the public’s favourite!”

Like every year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year doesn’t just celebrate the beauty of our planet. It aims to highlight the critical need for conservation. The selected photos invite us to reflect on our relationship with nature and take action to protect it. Whether it’s the tenacity of a honey badger or the raw vulnerability of a cheetah cub, these images are powerful calls to care for our shared home.
