A month from today, the earth is going to experience one of those rare moments where a fine drink is in order – a total solar eclipse. If you live in America, YAY. America will get the full Total Eclipse treatment, if you are living anywhere else, why not enjoy the eclipse from space.
In March 2016, the earth had a similar total eclipse, only not in the US but in Indonesia. Himawari-8 – a Japanese weather satellite – captured the entire event and Nasa made it into a time-lapse.
Here is an interesting find, while you can see the Moonshadow moving from left to right, you can also see the sun specular reflection moving from right to left.
Guess what, the eclipse looks just like a round shadow.
